THE SHEPHERD AND SHEPHERDESS

Continuing my thought on IT'S A DANGEROUS WORLD, I'd like to suggest to protect the youngest of us, God gives that responsibility to a shepherd and a shepherdess. Mom and dad. These are my parents at their wedding in Springfield Illinois. I was there also in my mother's tummy which kind of explains why they were getting married. Don't get me wrong. They passionately loved each other. I guess I'm proof of that. 

I was born a super curious child. I remember sitting watching Mom vacuum with an electric vacuum cleaner. I must have asked how that was powered because I remember her explaining that electricity ran down the cord and came from the wall and that's what powered it, that is the vacuum cleaner. 

My dangerous penchant for testing theories out formulated an idea in my head and I noticed a bobby pin laying on the carpet, and I made the observation that it looked like it would fit very nicely in the electric outlet. 

I may be exaggerating a little bit, but Mom observed this with great alarm and to me it appeared she hopped over like a kangaroo and grab the bobby pin out of my hand, slapping it and scolding me quite severely. I suspect I started to cry and she was a pretty good teacher and taught me about not only electricity powering the vacuum but also that it could kill me dead. Since I am a sensitive child I took that lesson to heart and never experimented with electricity again. 

Of course I found other dangerous things to get into, but as I got older I learned to observe first, and experiment afterwards, which may explain why I'm still alive today. 

Now it's time for a little theology. Not everybody gets really good parents like I did, and those of us who like to assign blame sometimes blame God for the mistakes and failures of parents. There's even a lot of destruction going around because the original Shepherd of the Angels was Lucifer Who was appointed to not only be a Shepherd but also an observer and even a skeptic. But he allowed his skepticism to turn into a Savage trial of the human race. Notice though, that he was an excellent observer of the law and knew that even though he tested us he was still within bounds of the contract and that contract continues to this very day. 

Of course his rebellion got out of hand when he stirred up the circumstances that ended up in the crucifixion of God's only son and that resulted in the angels, 1/3 of them to be exact, being cast out of heaven. But the contract still stood, for God always keeps his word. 

If you could turn, my friend, from your anger at God and allowing so many Innocents to suffer, and also your guilt and shame for all the mistakes and failures you have made, and turn to a holy God who has provided a path to a fellowship with him through his son Jesus Christ, you could make your way to him. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
